News about PyConZa

Book your place at the inaugural PyConZA now!

PyConZA is the first ever South African gathering of developers of the open-source Python programming language.

Taking place in Cape Town from October 4 – 5 2012, PyConZA gives the local Python community an opportunity to engage with each other, learn, and share experiences. PyConZa is being organised by the Python community for the community and presented by Praekelt Foundation – and follows on from the many other PyCons that take place yearly around the world.

The theme of the inaugural PyConZA is to foster solutions for the challenges faced in Africa. The full schedule of presenters will be announced early September.

The conference will provide potent insight into how people are working with Python all over Africa – including building massive radio telescopes, creating mobile health systems, running businesses, making websites, writing games, connecting people, doing research, designing interpreters, crunching data, earning money and or simply coding for fun.

PyConZA aims to be as inclusive as possible so is a great space for newcomers looking for tutorials, Python gurus with ideas and experiences to share with the community, or Python users wanting to be inspired.

PyConZA takes place at The Pavilion Clocktower in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa from the 4 - 5 October 2012. There are special rates for students as well as Early Bird bookings. PyConZA conference registration includes a light lunch and morning and afternoon break refreshments on the two conference days (Thursday and Friday).

Don’t miss out on being part of the largest gathering in South Africa for the community using and developing the open-source Python programming language. Book your place now.

Like the software itself, PyConZA also relies on volunteers from the Python community so if you’d like to be involved contact team@za.pycon.org
